Clark Shao, the New Face of Six Pack Shortcuts 2.0

Earlier this week, we talked about Mike Chang’s retirement from the phenomenally successful Six Pack Shortcuts program he founded in 2010. Today, we’ll delve further into the background of Clark Shao, Mike’s childhood friend who took over SPS with the introduction of Six Pack Shorts 2 last month.

Who is Clark Shao?

Clark ShaoIf you live in the Houston area, chances are you’re already familiar with his 6-pack physique. He has a personal training service based in Houston, Texas, where he said to get ‘celebrity style results, without the celebrity price tag’ ($43 per session). He was even featured on Inside Edition‘s special on Houston’s Hottest Bachelors.

How did it all start? On the schoolyard, actually. Clark Shao and Mike Chang grew up as childhood friends back in grade school, when they were both skinny little beanstalks. Mike got his first pair of dumbbells at the age of 10, and by 14, the two young men were working out together regularly.

As the years went by, while Chang was busy finding new ways to get six pack abs in as short a time as possible, Clark was right there with him, working out and eating all kinds of weird diet food. Clark helped Mike develop some of the techniques that have made Six Pack Shortcuts so incredibly successful, like the famous ‘After-Burn Effect‘ that allows people to continue burning calories long after they finish a workout session.

But as Mike was devising plans that would later evolve into the SPS dynasty, Clark was busy building his own fitness empire in Houston, via ClarkShao.com. In 2006, Shao started working as a personal trainer in some of the most elite fitness clubs in the Houston area, which earned him an invite to train on the hit NBC reality TV series, ‘The Biggest Loser‘.

Clark Shao's Favorite Client, ZenoBefore long, he was running his own independent fitness center and, in 2008, became the exclusive trainer of the Houston Rockets Power Dancers. Some of his most treasured accomplishments include helping a number of overweight individuals lose 100+ pounds in a matter of months.

In an interview with yourtrainer.com, Clark said his favorite client success story was that of a man named ‘Zeno’. “He lost 100lbs of fat in less than 6 months while increasing his strength by 200%,” said Shao. He recalled another client named Allan who he helped lose “180lbs in one year”. But Shao doesn’t just help people lose weight. He also helps underweight individuals put on muscle-mass and get ripped.

Clark Shao’s Credential & Expertise

According to his website, Clark’s credentials are many:

  • CPR/AED certified
  • Sports Nutrition Specialist
  • Weight Training Specialist
  • Human Anatomy
  • Human Physiology
  • Exercise Physiology
  • Professional and Legal Practices

His areas of fitness expertise include:

  • Cardio training
  • Fitness training
  • Resistance training
  • Strength and conditioning training

Clark confessed once that his passion to achieve a muscular body was inspired by “the physiques that superheroes had”. Based on recent photos, he’s certainly managed to achieve that childhood goal.

“Now I come to realize that fitness is part of quality of life, and when I transform clients’ lives,” he said proudly, “that makes me a different kind of superhero!”

All in all, I’d have to say Clark Shao appears to be a worthy heir to the Six Pack Shortcuts throne. The new SPS 2.0 program was launched last month and is already getting excellent reviews.
